Bobby Sweet

July 29, 2017 @ 4:00 am - 1:00 pm

A Berkshire native and sixth-generation musician, Bobby began his performing career in his father’s band at age 7. As a performer he has shared the bill with some of the top country and folk artists, including Vince Gill, Bill Staines, Bill Morrissey, Deana Carter, Bryan White, Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Jonathan Edwards and Sawyer Brown. As a sought-after lead guitarist he has opened shows for George Jones, Asleep at the Wheel, Willie Nelson, the Bellamy Brothers, Waylon Jennings and many others. Bobby completed his fourth U.S. tour playing guitar on Guthrie’s 50th Anniversary of Alice’s Restaurant Tour and traveled with Guthrie to Carnegie Hall, the New Orleans Jazz Fest and Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion among other landmark venues. Stylistically Bobby’s music resides somewhere between John Prine, Jackson Browne and a countrified Bruce Springsteen. An engaging storyteller and dynamic performer, he is at home on the stage, whether performing solo or with his full band. Bobby was selected as a finalist in the prestigious Kerrville (Texas) New Folk Songwriting Contest and has earned honorable mentions from other such organizations. His warm stage presence and dynamic style have built a devoted following. This summer (2017) Bobby celebrates the release of his 7th solo album.
