Ari & Mia, New England’s chamber-folk sister duo, combine the styles of Southern and Northeastern fiddle music and the early American songbook with their “strikingly beautiful harmonies” and sophisticated Americana sound.
“The two have blended a strong — yet dainty — mix of fiddle, banjo, and cello with percussion sprinkled to taste. Their whimsical vocals intertwine with each other and sometimes it’s hard to decipher the two voices apart from each other. The duo would easily be seen/heard on the same bill as Ani DiFranco, Regina Spektor, Rasputina and Jewel.” — Valley Advocate
This concert is a celebration of the release of their brand new album, Learning Your Name—a collection of eight songs that captures the awe and joy of raising young children.
As Ari says, “…this particular album of ours is special and not in a way that calls attention to ourselves but in a way that asks other people to pay attention, to listen deeply, to access the wonderment of caregiving often buried beneath layers of burnout and exhaustion. In the words of our older sister Rabbi Shoshana Friedman, these songs are ‘caregiving as liturgy.’”
