An Appreciation of Poetry with Val Coleman

Join Sandisfield poet and scholar Val Coleman for a lively tour through the history of poetry as it has evolved along with our human species, from the development of the hyoid bone (enabling speech and song) to the ancient epic of Gilgamesh and ending somewhere in the weeds of rap. Along the way, you’ll meet the likes of Shelley and Dickinson, TS Eliot and Jeffers, George Herbert and Amiri Baraka. We’ll even talk about metrics and rhyme and we’ll hear the echo of poetry in the affairs of history.
