This play was written for the Dallas Children's Theater Company, one of America's most prestigious children’s theater groups. In 1997-8 they toured the play to 45 major American cities. Our version is a lively mix of children and adults. The play has everything: a shipwreck, the sad story of Jack’s lost father and the resulting family poverty, Jack's band of young friends; and the wily peddler who gets Jack to part with the family cow and remaining money for a bag of magic beans. BUT the beans really ARE magical, and Jack climbs into the Giant's world and meets the harassed, constantly cooking, normal-sized wife, a crazy opera-singing lady harpist, a gigantic neurotic golden-egglaying chicken and a mysterious prisoner in the Giant’s dungeon.
